Reply:A combination of Retin-A (over the counter med), acne scar Scarzone (available at Walgreens), and Nuetrogena Acne Fade Peels, have completely eliminated my acne scars.
Retin-A may make you break out a little for up to two months before it starts to work like a miracle. Use it every night, use Scarzone for several hours every day, and use Nuetrogena facial peels about once a month.
It took about 4 months for my acne scars to disappear.

I used cocoa butter and I broke out in small pimples...my friend suggested I buy Fillipino blck licorice soap !! FANTASTIC ....it got rid of her acne and for me it gaved me an amazingly smooth even tones skin .

As for the cocoa butter i haven't personally tried it but used to use it for stretch marks from when i was pregnant and yeah it is greasy i couldn't imagine putting it on my face.

Its just as bad as vitamin e. It is going to clog your pores unless it says it won't. Are you treating existing acne yet? Try proactive or some kind of regiment to keep your skin clear. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER and wash your face with cold water to keep pores tight. Finally, once you are cleared up you can save up and get lazer treatment to treat existing scars. Either that or find a high end - clarins - bleaching cream.

Wanted to add...........Try a good quality aloe vera. This stuff is amazing at healing skin and it is inexpensive. You can get it in vitamin and health food stores. I have however seen it in Walmart, but Im not sure about its purity.

Can you get tattoos over acne scars??
I have pretty bad scaring from acne on the backs of my shoulders...Last night on Miami Ink, some girl got a tattoo across her back to take the attention away from pretty bad scars that she had from Chicken Pox. Anyway, my scars arent as bad as hers, so I got to thinking, can tattoos go over scars? If i got one pretty big tattoo on each shoulder blade maybe this would "hide" the scars I have. Thanks for any input you guys can give me!!

Is there anyone out there with severe acne, and acne scars? Don't you just hate it and wish it would all go away? I've had this for about 8 years now when I was about 13 years old. It has gotten beter through the years, but not enough to satisfy me. What medications do you people use? What gets rid of oily skin? I have tried almost all the products out there. I was even on accutane for 6 months in 2003 when I was 18, but no results. I'm thinking about getting laser surgery in Irvine, California. I heard that chocolate makes you break out even more is this true? I hope not. Also, I heard you could get rid of them by having sex. Any infomation would be great. Thank You

I am female and I used birth control pills for a bit and that was grand, but for the past six months nothing has worked. I tried Murad and that didn't help either. As well as herbal and homeopathic remidies. Ok...I have tried everything! I will start on Proactive next week so I pray that will work, so many people have sworn by it. It also clears up scars as well.
Go to a dermatologist (if you haven't already) there are choices of Differin gel, tetracycline, Retin-A and stuff. Perhaps one of them may work.
Sex doesn't help directly...the reason people say this is because sex is like exercise and you usually get the blood circulating all through your skin including your face (you know? the nice flush?) Which is why exercise should help. Lots of water too.
As for the scarring...if it is serious, I agree with one of the other respondents - microdermabrassion (about $150 a pop)or some laser work (a bit more expensive). My scarring is not bad and clears up on it's own in a few months so I use daily moisturizers with Active soy (Aveeno).

I'm 20 years old and have mild acne but some pretty bad acne scars. Anyway, the other week I got a sinus cold (basic stuff: stuffy nose, sore throat etc.). My nose filled up with tons of mucus and I spent the following few days removing the mucus. I noticed after a few days that my skin had looked 10 times better. The pigmentation marks had faded almost completely and the acne was gone. This lasted for about a week. After my cold went away my scars started to reappear. What's strange is that I had a really bad cold a few months ago and the same thing happened. Does anyone know why?

And Clearasil is great to use when you're washing up before school or in the shower, and even before bed. You can use it pretty much anytime you're in the bathroom, but make sure you read the back for how many times a day would be good for you.

I went to a plastic surgeon and I was going to get laser done.. but he said I'm a 6 on a scale of 1-10 on the severeness 10 being most severe.. and he really wanted to punch grafts and then dermabrasion. I've heard a lot of bad/awful/horrible stuff about dermabrasion so I don't know if I should? My parents are scaring me about it but on the other hand I've talked to people who like it? Laser apparently was not an option because the scarring was too deep. Any advice?

I have products that have AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) that make the scars and acne disappear! Go see a dermatologist or look for peel products. Neutrogena makes and Acne Mark Fading Peel that was pretty good. But I reccomend the AHA's 110%.
I had severe acne, and it all cleared up in 3 months.

I have products that have AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) that make the scars and acne disappear! Go see a dermatologist or look for peel products. Neutrogena makes and Acne Mark Fading Peel that was pretty good. But I reccomend the AHA's 110%.

Hi everyone. I'm 15 years old (male) and just finished 2 courses of Accutane. My skin is still terrible however, with many, many, left behind acne scars on my cheeks. I have lived with them for a LONG time, and nothing is working to help them fade, not even time itself.

It is only about $5 a bottle and lasts about 2 months and you can get it at your local store. I have used this in the past and it works well. Personally, I use Biore products (which you get over the counter. Their products range from $5-$10). They are harsh on pimples, but not on your face.

I use Biore Ice Cleanser for acne and Biore warming facial scrub every morning for blackheads (This stuff works. I notcied a DRASTIC difference in my blackheads being GONE within 2 weeks) . And then 3-4 day s a week I use Biore purging pore cream scrub. For body acne I use Neutrogena acne body wash I never break out on my body. It gets 110 in summer so sweat in inevitably, yet I never break out. Give it a try. All of it is cheap too. About $5-10 depending on what you buy! I think you will just need to experiment with products until you find what works for you. Remember, it can take 1 month for products to fully begin working! Good Luck!

Hi I need a good, fairly cheap, drugstore foundation. I have acne scars/ big pores on my nose and T-zone. I need something with good coverage but wont be mask like...concealers i've tried dont work for me cause they fill up the pores and make them a really bright color than the rest of the skin ewww even under foundation...THANKS!!!

Hi...I understand where you're coming from. I used Neutrogena skin-clearing foundation for a while (because at least it didn't make my skin break out) but the coverage was not that great for acne scars - to cover them I'd have to use so much that it looked mask-like. Unfortunately there is not a lot out there that covers acne scars that isn't a little mask-like but the best I've found is L'Oreal foundation. I use "Feel Naturale" but I think probably any one of them that is oil-free and non-comedogenic would be safe for you. It doesn't make my skin break out. It provides GREAT coverage but goes on smooth and looks more natural %26amp; less caky than anything else I've tried. But I still have to use concealer with it. I use concealer on top of it rather than under it and try to blend it a bit so it looks more natural (although I do understand that sometimes that's not possible). I use Neutrogena concealer for blemishes.
I've heard rave reviews about what mineral powder foundations do for covering acne scars, etc. and I tried that for a while and it is fairly good coverage. But these powders are not necessarily cheap at all and you want something inexpensive - although on eBay you could find it more inexpensively than elsewhere, if you wanted to try it. It might work for you but it's just not my thing - it's so messy to deal with loose powder all the time and I have to touch up with pressed powder frequently during the day (to mop up the oil slick on my face), so to me it just looks really unnatural when there are so many coats of powder on my face. =)
Instead I use L'Oreal foundation with a light layer of MAC Blot powder on top, which I touch up during the day but looks a lot less caky even with repeated touchups, than other powders I've tried. MAC Blot powder is about $21 and one compact doesn't last too long - so if you want only inexpensive powder it wouldn't be the way to go, but if you really want it, you can find it slightly less expensively on eBay.

Reply:When in the drugstore look for a cream foudation. Creams tend to give heavier coverage that would cover scars. I would suggest getting a translucent powder as well to set the foundation. If you haven't already, please see a dermatologist about the cause a cure of your acne. It's always better to clear it up vs. covering it up.

I've there before what I would suggest is get rid of the problem then after it's all cleared up u can then enjoy and smudge as much make up as u like without looking messy trust me once ur spots are gone whatever foundation u use cheap or expensive it will always look beautiful and natural looking.

I had pretty bad acne. Then I tried ProActiv and it completely ruined my face. I'm on a prescription face wash now so the acne isn't really a problem. ProActiv left me with many scars. Any way to make my skin tone even on my face again?

Work on your personality and your behavior and you will have fewer problems with ladies than you may think.

Are these acne scars?
I had severe breakouts on cheeks but now its calmed down. My acne on cheeks are completely flat and no longer flaming. The problem now are these red, raw beef colored spots on cheeks. I thought they were acne scars until someone told me it might be Post Imflamatory Hyperpigmentation. What should I do thats cheap?

It may be too early to tell if it is scarring. Give it time to heal and smooth out. Use gentle products so the skin retains some of it's natural moisture. When my daughter needed stitches on her face due to an accident, the plastic surgeon said to keep it wet and not to let a scab form. Then once it was healed to break open a vitamin E capsule and rub it in to the area twice a day. Not exactly the same situation but it seems to me the tissue would heal better if kept hydrated.
Deep scarring can be diminished by an skin peel. Peels are done in varying degrees of strength. They should ONLY be done by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Never get a peel from a salon. Often the doctor will try something like Retin-A before resorting to a peel. Retin-A will make your skin 'turn over' faster and reveal newer skin. It can help smooth out rough areas. The retinol creams you can buy OTC work on the same principle but they are not as strong. Use sunscreen if you use them.
Take a good multi-vitamin and drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out and really does help keep skin clear. Eat more fruits and veggies - water content and they are not processed. This will provide your body with the vitamins it needs to heal and regenerate cells.

I began developing bad acne in my early twenties and as it just kept getting worse and worse (absolutely nothing I tried worked) my doctor recommended that I try accutane. I was strongly opposed to using this strong medication but I finally decided to try it and it worked so unbeliveably well! It really dries you out for the 6 months that you need to be on it, but your acne will go away. I have been off of the accutane for two years now and I have not had a breakout since. I too have scarring and the best thing my doctor recommended was going to see either a dermatologist and/or a medical aesthetician for regular glycolic peels or microdermabrasion to even out the skins surface. If you still have breakouts pretty regularly the microdermabrasion can actually further irritate your skin so that is why I would recommend trying to get rid of the acne first. If you are 26 and still having bad acne, especially if it is cystic acne, that typically will not just go away on it's own or with most topical products. I would talk to your doctor and/or a dermatologist about your specific problem.

I'm sure you've seen it advertised, but basically it's a medical procedure performed by trained physicians only that involves using abrasive material to remove the top layers of dead skin, therby creating a healthy looking skin underneath. It is not very painful, and most patients tolerate it well. It is ususally used in conjunction with a chemical peel which uses chemicals to accomplish the same thing - remove dead skin cells.
These are the only proven methods to remove chronic acne scars. Please talk to your family doctor, or better yet a dermatologist for more information.

Reply:Microdermabrasion is your best chance at removing scars. I had red marks and slight pitted scars from my acne. I started with a series of three microderms and my skin has never been better. Not only did it get rid of my scars but it also helped to clear out my pores so the more microderm that I did the less I broke out. I recommend going to a dermatologist that uses the Diamond Wand brand of microderm, it is the highest quality. Microderm isn't cheap, about $90.00 a session, but most places will give you a discount if you pay for multiple session in advance. I began developing bad acne in my early twenties and as it just kept getting worse and worse (absolutely nothing I tried worked) my doctor recommended that I try accutane. I was strongly opposed to using this strong medication but I finally decided to try it and it worked so unbeliveably well! It really dries you out for the 6 months that you need to be on it, but your acne will go away. I have been off of the accutane for two years now and I have not had a breakout since. I too have scarring and the best thing my doctor recommended was going to see either a dermatologist and/or a medical aesthetician for regular glycolic peels or microdermabrasion to even out the skins surface. If you still have breakouts pretty regularly the microdermabrasion can actually further irritate your skin so that is why I would recommend trying to get rid of the acne first. If you are 26 and still having bad acne, especially if it is cystic acne, that typically will not just go away on it's own or with most topical products. I would talk to your doctor and/or a dermatologist about your specific problem.

I'm sure you've seen it advertised, but basically it's a medical procedure performed by trained physicians only that involves using abrasive material to remove the top layers of dead skin, therby creating a healthy looking skin underneath. It is not very painful, and most patients tolerate it well. It is ususally used in conjunction with a chemical peel which uses chemicals to accomplish the same thing - remove dead skin cells.
These are the only proven methods to remove chronic acne scars. Please talk to your family doctor, or better yet a dermatologist for more information.

Reply:Microdermabrasion is your best chance at removing scars. I had red marks and slight pitted scars from my acne. I started with a series of three microderms and my skin has never been better. Not only did it get rid of my scars but it also helped to clear out my pores so the more microderm that I did the less I broke out. I recommend going to a dermatologist that uses the Diamond Wand brand of microderm, it is the highest quality. Microderm isn't cheap, about $90.00 a session, but most places will give you a discount if you pay for multiple session in advance. my skin is so smooth now and i dont have acne anymore, but i do have acne scars left by the acne. ive had them before and they gradually went away, but im not sure how long it took cuz i never aimed to get rid of them. but now im older and i have a boyfriend and i want to look my best around him even tho he doesnt care. i just want to get rid of them. and they're dark brown and i have a yellowish tone, so it stands out. ugh! how to get rid of it fast? can drinking lots of water and green tea and using shea butter everyday help make it disappear?

i have acne scars all over my forehead (around the eyebrows), under my nose and a lot of dark scars on my chin, and i really need to get rid of them! i use the orange neutrogena acne cleanser and then apply benza clin to the affected areas, but all it does is take away my zits, but leave discolored scars behind. i drink lots of water, but usually only get 6 hours of sleep. what am i doing wrong? will Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel work for me?

Reply:i recently started using wheat germ oil on my scars and after 3 days they have greatly improved! Wheat germ is hight in vitamin E. It does smell somewhat foul but it's worth it. I also use aloe vera gel on my whole face in the morning as a moisturizer.

i use to be very depressed about having acne.. and very embarrased to be around people becuase of my acne (teen/early 20s)
i have been using proactive for almost 5 years now) and myface is clearer than its ever been :)
also drink lots of water, take vitamins and change your pillow case 2-3x a week, tie your hair back at night, use a bandana/scarf, dont sleep with your hair all over .. hair products can break you out as well.
sanitize your phone, cell phone as well. you would be surprised how much dirt/germs are on phones.

Actually, there have been studies done that have concluded that people who are more attractive have less trouble getting a job than people who are considered to be unattractive (overweight, acne, dirty, etc.). Also unfortunate is the fact that these studies were primarily done with women. men usually don't have trouble getting a job based on appearances. If you've got acne, the best thing to do for an interview would be to cover it up as best as you can. try a make-up called DermaBlend. It covers everything from acne to tattoos.

Minimal Acne Scars.?
I don't think you can say i have acne, however i do sometimes get pimples only inbetween my eyebrows. Except, they never get to the stage where i can "pop" them? They're basically just clogged pores and they never turn into pimples. So, they almost never go away. And when they do go away, they leave red scars that look like pimples! I need to find some kind of treatment that will help. Any face washes to prevent it and creams or lotions or something to take them away.

i have some scars from acne and i want to buy a good concealer that will cover it up well. i dont know what a good brand of concealer is so i need help with that.. and if anyone has any tips or tricks to hide my marks i would appreciate itt

I like Revlon, but since everybody's skin types are different, you really need trial and error. Oh, and they have those nifty little concealer sticks that are green or blue you dab on before the main concealer, they work wonders. Just be careful you aren't making your skin worse by clogging pores and not allowing it to breathe. But if you want to actually reduce the scars themselves use vitamin E. You can get the thinned topical stuff, (the thick is a little hard to use) or you can ingest the pills or both. Over time your scars will reduce. We're talking months, but a lifetime of lessened scars is worth a little effort. Good luck with it!

This doesn't really answer your question, but there are creams and procedures out there that do actually get rid of acne scars. I don't know if you've tried that. Then you wouldn't have this problem to begin with. :)

it's at a very fair price, you can get it about anywhere but i've physically saw it at CVS pharmacy.
to cover it up for now, try neutrogena concealers, they really help get deep down and make your skin look healthier, and thay get rid of acne if that's a current prob., it worked GREAT for me!!!
try putting on concealer first to get right to it, then put on a tad of foundation and or powder
