Acne scar treatment for my 15 year old daugthter including lasers? or dermabrasion?
Her skin is very young, and the scars will mostly fade. A little Mederma can be helpful. I know it is hard at that age, but does she have any idea what "could" happen with laser treatment? Lasers create very bad scars on some people, and with her being so young...I wouldn't even attempt it. Plus nothing can get rid of scars, all they can do is flatten and lighten them. Let her skin develop, and I am sure they will fade on their own. Try some concealer and the Mederma, and see where that ends up. Laser treatments can range from 600-1200 a visit, and like I said the side effects could be more devastating than what she already has.

Have you spoken to a dermatologist about Retin-A treatment? My niece had really bad acne scars and a couple weeks after starting Retin-A (cream applied 1x day at bedtime) her scarring had faded drastically. It also prevented new breakouts. Retin A is a derivative of Vitamin A and promotes cell regeneration, thus your old/scarred skin will peel for a few days but after that the new skin will start growing in. There is a generic brand that works equally well (Trentonin) and it is covered by most, if not all, insurance companies. By the way, if she is still having acne breakouts, as teens do, it may not be cost effective to have laser, etc done this early. I'd consider treating the source first. If these 2 minor acne scars are effecting her life as you put it, then may I suggest she see a therapist instead to talk about her self esteem issues, which are probably deeper than her skin.
Reply:Chemical Peels are designed only for light acne scar cases or very mild acne scarring making it is the least likely method of treatment to improve acne scars.Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acne .
Reply:Hi there!
One of the most common acne scar treatment is laser resurfacing, or the application of soft and highly focused light on the surface of the skin to "burn" acne. However, this approach is only advisable for minor acne types like blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. Laser resurfacing is actually the closest literal equivalent of actual "acne removal" technique that is currently available. This is because laser resurfacing will actually remove acne. Since burning would naturally produce scars, people are quite hesitant to avail of this acne removal method. But such worries are unfounded. Laser resurfacing also includes a post-burning treatment that would stimulate the instant growth of collagen.
