Is there anyone out there with severe acne, and acne scars? Don't you just hate it and wish it would all go away? I've had this for about 8 years now when I was about 13 years old. It has gotten beter through the years, but not enough to satisfy me. What medications do you people use? What gets rid of oily skin? I have tried almost all the products out there. I was even on accutane for 6 months in 2003 when I was 18, but no results. I'm thinking about getting laser surgery in Irvine, California. I heard that chocolate makes you break out even more is this true? I hope not. Also, I heard you could get rid of them by having sex. Any infomation would be great. Thank You

Gosh...acne! besides a cure for AIDS and Cancer, this would be right around there somewhere.
I am female and I used birth control pills for a bit and that was grand, but for the past six months nothing has worked. I tried Murad and that didn't help either. As well as herbal and homeopathic remidies. Ok...I have tried everything! I will start on Proactive next week so I pray that will work, so many people have sworn by it. It also clears up scars as well.
Go to a dermatologist (if you haven't already) there are choices of Differin gel, tetracycline, Retin-A and stuff. Perhaps one of them may work.
Sex doesn't help directly...the reason people say this is because sex is like exercise and you usually get the blood circulating all through your skin including your face (you know? the nice flush?) Which is why exercise should help. Lots of water too.
As for the scarring...if it is serious, I agree with one of the other respondents - microdermabrassion (about $150 a pop)or some laser work (a bit more expensive). My scarring is not bad and clears up on it's own in a few months so I use daily moisturizers with Active soy (Aveeno).

Reply:Go to your Doc and get on the Obagi system. It is wonderful and works for acne and scars/discoloration. Do this and ask for doxycycline (antibiotic), also do microdermabrasion once a week if you can.
This will work amazingly but you must have patience, all acne treatments take time and patience.
I have been on the system since late Feb., I had cystic acne and now friends and even RANDOM people compliment my skin!
I reccommend having the doc put you on that antibiotic (kills acne bacteria internally), and then ask for retin-a. (it goes with Obagi system) Actually you can buy the Obagi system on Ebay for half the price, I do and it's the same product! Please give me your email if you'd like, I'd love to share this product, it truelly works. Also I know how bad it feels to have acne. And no, sex doesn't work, sorry.

Sinus colds cleared up my acne and acne scars, coincidence?
I'm 20 years old and have mild acne but some pretty bad acne scars. Anyway, the other week I got a sinus cold (basic stuff: stuffy nose, sore throat etc.). My nose filled up with tons of mucus and I spent the following few days removing the mucus. I noticed after a few days that my skin had looked 10 times better. The pigmentation marks had faded almost completely and the acne was gone. This lasted for about a week. After my cold went away my scars started to reappear. What's strange is that I had a really bad cold a few months ago and the same thing happened. Does anyone know why?
I was thinking it was because of my sinuses being cleared of mucus. Would wasabi or hot peppers work the same way (since they also clear the sinuses)?

How do you remove red acne scars?
Does anyone know how to get rid of acne scars that are red colored? I have clear skin, but i have one patch of acne that is red from the scars and is very noticable. I have to wake up every morning and cover it up, it is so embarrassing!! It makes me feel bad about appearance. I have light skin so it is noticable, please let me know how to get rid of the scars. Something i can do, not too complicated.

hey. i have really bad acne scars on my face, forehead especially and now my cheeks too. i really wanna get rid of them as soon as possible. i know i shouldn't have popped them but i couldnt stand having all the fresh red bumps on my face. not just tiny ones but big ones too. ugh. it's horrible. i have this whole acne attack like last 3 years and it just got worse this year. it's like new ones will pop once the old ones heal. it's a never ending ordeal. :( i'm using Simple products right now and i hope it will help. i've got a sensitive, acne prone skin so anything stronger will aggravate my skin. im also keeping an extra eye on my diet now. i guess it's one the reason the acne's lingering. but the scars are killing me. i also have scars on my legs (shanks) and they are fugly. these insect bites (scars) thanks to camping trip seemed to stay forever. my mum's asking me to use body scrubs with vit E and friends suggested cocoa butter. :( any idea what should i use/do? tnx. xxx
